Airnest has just released an app for iOS that allows you to instruct your drone to fly on autopilot for capturing video or camera stills, and to control the camera simply by panning and tilting your iOS device.
Currently compatible with the DJI Phantom 3 (Pro and Advanced) and the DJI Inspire 1 models, the Airnest app is now available on the iOS App Store for a promotional rate of $19.99,
Co-founder Ben Brautigam stated: “We believe drones will impact virtually every industry from filmmaking to farming. But to get there, we believe it needs to be a lot simpler. That’s why we made an app without the confusing controls so you can get the shots you want without the hassle.”
Airnest’s app is not the only autopilot software available for drones, but it’s definitely one of the most intuitive and easiest drone autopilot apps to use.
It includes in fact the ability to draw a flight path with your finger to safely instruct your drone to fly on autopilot for capturing video or camera stills:
It also allows you to control the camera simply by panning and tilting your iOS device.
As you move the iPad or iPhone, the UAS mimics your movements while streaming the live feed back down to you:
In addition to these key features, the app integrates some safety features: it displays no fly zones such as airports, and it prevents your drone from flying above the 400 feet as prescribed by the Federal Aviation Commission (FAA) in the US.
The company plans to update its app to maintain safety and compliance as regulations evolve.
To use your drone with the Airnest app, just plan a flight and launch the drone into the air. Once airborne, the drone will follow the flightpath and capture high resolution photos or video.
