Check the top drone film festivals available around the world to aerial filmmakers, cinematographers using drones and drone enthusiasts!

We created for you the best list of top drone film festivals 2017.

In recent years, drones have opened up a whole new world of photography & filming, for professional cinematographers and consumers alike. Drones have now become part and parcel of the tools in a cinematographers arsenal, allowing directors and producers a birds-eye view of the action.

The quality of drone films and images is getting better and better all the time, and drone enthusiasts are becoming more innovative about the way drones are used to tell a story.

Drone Films, or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Films, Aerial Films, or Flying Camera Robot Films – call them what you will – are becoming a widely recognized niche in the cinema industry, and dedicated festivals spread in the last few years.

2016 saw a huge growth in drone-related film festivals as a direct result of the popularity of drones and drone use.

In 2017 we are actually seeing fewer drone film festivals but the festivals that are still operating have matured and grown and demonstrate how important drones have become in terms of cinematography. A few new quality drone film festivals have also come up on the scene.

We have listed here the top Drone Film Festivals. Some of them have been running for years, but we also included new promising drone festivals on the market that have the potential to grow.

We want to contribute to this rising trend in cinematography, and to encourage the adoption of drones as innovative tools for telling a story through images, promoting these film festivals as platforms for aerial filmmakers to showcase their work.

If you are a cinematographer using drones or a drone enthusiast flyer skilled in aerial cinematography, the list of drone film festivals below will help you on your road to success. Or you can simply use this list to get access to beautiful films and shorts!

Let us know if we are missing a drone film festival from the list. If you have attended any and have something to say about it, let us know that too!
